Remote management of electronics
The world is full of electronics and electrical devices that are a part of some important manufacturing process or other operation, and that regardless of their importance are not connected or part of any remote monitoring system. Their fault prevention and prediction is solely under the watchful eyes of their operators and manual inspection.
Typically operators want to monitor a process and catch failing components to ensure highest possible uptime. Retrofitting old electronics and electrical devices with ORM-data management devices not only extends the life of old systems but also offers transparency to the condition of the asset and the process itself increasing efficiency and reducing operating cost. Embedded intelligence can take this even further, enabling local interfaces, embedded algorithms and more.
Often it is possible to connect with such devices through fieldbus: RS232/RS485, CAN or Ethernet protocols. Distence’s ORM-devices support most protocols used in industrial applications. The most used and supported protocols include Modbus, OpenCAN and many IP-based Ethernet-protocols. We have extensive experience also from connecting with numerous proprietary protocols.
